Markus Schaefer and the plastic bag

Markus Schaefer and the plastic bag

The primal scene of the Hamburg International Short Film Festival (KFF - KurzFilmFestival Hamburg). In 1985, Markus Schaefer stands in front of the door of the communal cinema Metropolis with a plastic bag full of super-8 and 16mm films, and asks for admission. The friendly doorkeeper and manager of the cinema at the time, Heiner Roß, lets him in with the words “Low budget is already available, you are rather more like no budget”. The evening in the sold-out cinema is a huge success and the starting shot for the festival.
