Berlin Today Award

The Berlin Today Award (BTA) was staged as a short film competition from 2003 to 2012. Organizer of the BTA was the Berlinale Talent Campus. The KFA was involved in the selection of the film scripts submitted and took on the worldwide distribution of the films produced.

Funded by the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH and the Federal Foreign Office, this award was not only open to participants of the current Berlinale Talent Campus to apply with their film ideas, but also the alumni of the previous years. The projects were chosen by a professional jury. Staff members of the KFA participated in the pre-selection and projects were then chosen by a professional jury. The selected filmmakers produced a short film under professional conditions and, as well as a comfortable production budget, received support in the form of equipment from the film and media industry.

The short films produced were premiered at the opening of the Berlinale Talent Campus. A jury of celebrities chose the winners. The prize was awarded at the Berlin International Film Festival.
